It’s getting ridiculous. We are being hacked on a daily basis. It’s become a pandemonium!
Last week one of my Verizon Android smartphones was hacked. This week it’s my Iris home security system. One of my newest heavily computerized vehicles was hacked a couple of months ago.
In 2014 my Twitter account was hacked, and so was my TheEHRGuy.com domain.
This is nucking futs!
Many software products get released with huge security flaws and then patches with other flaws are sent out to fix the flaw of the flaws. They call these hot fixes. They should be called “we screwed it up” fixes.
The truth is that with the national and world reliance on software products, it’s becoming paramount to regulate the industry. No longer should software companies just release crap to the market. We need true standards. We require true security protections.
Software should be recalled just as faulty products are recalled.
No longer should we allow that flawed software gets released and then immediately after that, a thousand patches are spewed to make it right.
This approach is damaging many segments, especially the healthcare domain.
Healthcare is being hacked. Apparently, the cyber-criminals are after financial data. It just freaks me out to be connected to a medical device that has wi-fi. If it gets hacked then I’m screwed. The clinicians will get false readings. The thermostat in my house was hacked to crank up the temperature to 82 degrees! What would happen if the clinician is getting a false reading of my body temperature because the device was hacked?
We are plagued with unaccountability. Regarding security, no organization is accountable. The trust is lost, it’s corrupted. Certificate Authorities are not accountable. Operating system developers are unaccountable. Open Source is unaccountable. We are screwed. Period!
Government regulation for software is a must. It can no longer be a home garage-based business. Too much is at stake.
The reason why the FDA started regulating drugs and medical devices was based on the same premises.
Or do you want to be sold snake soaked oil to cure your neuropathy?
