Dear Mrs. CMS,
I’m a patient that really admires you. You have been doing so many great things for our wonderful nation. You are so awesome!
While at my physician’s practice I overheard that you were paying my doctor $44,000.00 to use a software package. Every single doctor in that practice was so happy that they were finally able to afford that brand new Corvette that had previously been so elusive to them and only lived in their wildest dreams. All they could do was talk about how cool you are. They said that you are indeed so awesome!
For many, many years I’ve been using a lot of software without charging anything to anybody!
Can you imagine this? I have used Windows, Word, Excel, and whatchamacallit for FREE! Oh no! Wait a sec! I actually paid to use these software applications.
How stupid of me! If only I had known about you earlier I would probably be rich by now!
Now, here’s the deal: What if, as a patient, I would be paid to use the patient portal mandated by Meaningful Use stage 2?
That would be so awesome!
This surely fits your strategy which is to pay for the use of software technology.
Now, the big problem is: What patient portal of the thousands being offered in the market should I use? I believe I should use the one that you are willing to pay me more for. Don’t you think?
I look forward to your generous incentive and please say hi to Mrs. HHS for me. She is also so awesome!
